Absolutely! All paint finishes are durable exterior paint finishes. Plus, the majority of our products are aluminum, therefore ideally suited for exterior use as they will never rust. If this characteristic is important to you, check with Lamani Designs about the type of metal each product is composed of as we do have products made of hand-forged iron and steel.
How do I select a fireplace screen to fit my fireplace?
There is quite a bit of flexibility in determining the best size of decorative screen for a particular fireplace opening. The following information is intended as a guide only – there are other factors to consider such as scale of the room, hearth size, mantle size, shape and location, etc.
WIDTH For a flat French screen there is a lot of flexibility – historically these were simply placed on the hearth as decoration and did not have to be the same width as the opening. So they can be larger or smaller than the opening in both width and height.
The measurements of the paneled fireplace screens are given when the screen is flat. Therefore, when it is standing you will lose 6-12” in the bend of the sides. So, if your opening is 40” wide, you would select a screen that is 46-52” wide or 6-12” wider than your opening. This will allow for ample bend of the screens’ side panels. If you have a very wide fireplace opening, you may need to add panels to the screen – prices and sizes are given for this option also. We sell many four, five and even six paneled fireplace screens.
HEIGHT There is also flexibility in how tall the screen should be. Some customers prefer them 2-3” below the opening while others prefer 2-3” above the opening. We are not able to change the height of our patterns, but sometimes can vary placement of feet on a French screen or even add feet to a paneled screen for additional height.
Will the Lamani Designs fireplace screen work with a wood-burning fireplace?
Our fireplace screens are intended for decoration only. If you have a wood-burning fireplace, it is recommended that you purchase a wire curtain for fireplaces readily available at any home décor center, such as Lowe’s or Home Depot. These are very inexpensive and available in several sizes.
When ordering your headboard, can I specify a custom drop so that my dust ruffle fits? Other headboards I have seen are lost behind all the decorative pillows so popular today – can I have a taller headboard?
Yes, we do not charge for custom drops on our headboards. We also do not charge for custom heights for the headboard or footboard. Since we manufacture all products here in our factory in Houston, we are able to accommodate your special needs. With today’s luxury linens, if the headboards are not tall enough to show above the decorative pillows, the beautiful design of the headboard can be totally lost.
DROP This is the length or height of your dust ruffle - many of today’s dust ruffles are 18, 20 and even 22” high. We will build the headboard set for a 16” dust ruffle unless otherwise informed. We prefer that you tell us what distance you would like from the floor to the bottom of the frame which holds the box spring. This is the most accurate information we can have to fit your specific linens since today’s box springs even vary in height.
